Cedars at Cobble Hill is pleased to announce the appointment of Marshall Smith as Executive Director of the Cedars Society, a non-profit organization committed to furthering the public’s knowledge and understanding of addictions.
Widely recognized as a national leader in the addiction recovery movement, Marshall joins the Cedars Society with a breadth of perspective and experience, as well as a passionate commitment to the field of addiction treatment and recovery.
While Marshall joined the Cedars team in 2012 this appointment marks a significant shift for the Cedars Society. The Cedars Society is committed to furthering the public’s knowledge and understanding of addiction as a disease. The Cedars Society is committed to developing extensive outreach programs, government and community relations, and various research programs to further understand the root causes and subsequent treatment of addiction.
Marshall’s impressive professional experience includes senior executive positions in the field of Addiction treatment and recovery advocacy, most recently as Director of Corporate Development and Community Relations for the Cedars at Cobble Hill Addiction Treatment Centre. Marshall has also developed several leading recovery programs across British Columbia and Alberta, and lectures on addiction recovery at the province’s top educational institutions. In addition, Marshall represents Canadians in Recovery on the National Recovery Advisory Council and Chairs the British Columbia Council for Recovery Excellence.
Marshall brings a personal perspective to addiction program management, rededicating his life and career to the field of recovery after a four-year battle with addiction and homelessness. He is passionate about early intervention and improving standards of care for people with addiction disorders, their families and workplaces.
