Hazel Adams

Community Support Worker

Hazel is 2016 Cedars alumni. After completing her time at Cedars, Hazel pursued higher education, earning a diploma in Indigenous studies, as well as a bachelor's degree in professional communications. She is currently working towards a master's degree in counselling psychology at the University of Victoria.

Hazel’s adventurous spirit has led her to 27 different countries. Her curious nature has inspired her to study French and Spanish, complete a bodyworker certification from the Vancouver School of Bodywork & Massage, as well as her 200hr level Yoga Teacher certification from Yandara Yoga institute.

Hazel is passionate about cooking delicious whole foods. She was able to combine this passion with her love for roughing it outdoors while cooking on tree-planting camps in Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. She has spent the last 3 years working outdoors in parks and loved it. Prior to this, Hazel worked as an activity assistant at a senior citizen's home, where she was able to use her yoga, art, and meditation trainings.

Hazel and her husband Sebastian are parents to one adorable Mexican dog- Gracie. They love living on Vancouver Island and taking full advantage of all the outdoor activities the island has to offer. They are grateful every day for the beautiful life they have created in recovery and for the community they are a part of.

Hazel recently completed her first 10-day silent meditation retreat and has been enjoying integrating a deeper meditation practice into her life. Spiritual health and connection is her biggest gift of recovery and where all the joy in her day to day comes from.

Hazel is extremely happy to be a part of the Cedars family and to witness the unfolding of people’s first weeks and months of sobriety and all that follows. She is honored to be a part of such a vulnerable and courageous time in people’s lives and appreciates the inner resources it takes to enter treatment and see the process through.

Hazel approaches life and work with a sense of humor, tries not take anything personally, and aims to be a positive part of whichever environment she is in.
