Laura Pereira

Community Support Worker

As a CSW Laura is both humbled and enriched by the opportunity to connect with patients while offering support on the recovery journey. She believes strongly in therapeutic processes that facilitate the emergence of creativity, connectedness, and individual growth.  Having navigated several difficult life transitions, and painful mental health challenges, Laura recognizes the immense privilege of walking alongside others through moments of hardship and healing.

While obtaining a double BA in International Development and Institutional Communications, Laura spent several years running poverty reduction programs in rural Ethiopia. She then moved on to culinary school and become a red-seal chef, where she continued to develop her passion for the creative arts and human nourishment. Most recently Laura was cooking for the Canadian Coast Guard which reignited her love for the helping professions.  Following both an insistent need for further education, and her everlasting fascination with the human experience, Laura is now training to become a psychotherapist. Her passions include poetry, painting, piano, writing, hiking, and making copious amounts of soup.
