Matt grew up in Saskatchewan and was an organic farmer for many years until he realized it was not his passion. It did however teach him the value of hard work. Matt took the plunge and left the family farm and to begin his educational journey with the love and support of my family. He moved to southern California and began taking all types of classes, looking for what really connected, after some time realizing his interest and passion for substance use counselling and began his first internship. Matt’s supervisor showed him what was possible through therapy and how you could impact the lives of others. Matt shares that after witnessing a group where he conducted a psychodrama, it made the hair on the back of his neck stand up, it was so powerful! At that point, he knew he needed to continue his education and pursue a master's degree. Before coming to Canada, Matt worked at a few treatment centers in Sounthern California. He is passionate and dedicated to helping those with addiction issues. The team at Cedars’ makes it an enjoyable place to come to help on a daily basis. It is a very supportive environment for not only patients but all of the staff.
