Born and raised in the Cowichan Valley, Alan spent 18 years as a Red Seal chef working across Canada. In 2014 Alan made the life changing decision to go back to school to work toward becoming a drug and alcohol counselor. Alan worked with at risk youth preparing them to begin their lives outside of ministry care. His true passion has always been to work with addiction and at risk individuals and he says that when the opportunity to work at Cedars arose, he jumped at the opportunity. Alan is a firm believer that food can be instrumental to one’s recovery, and is looking forward to creating opportunities to use his knowledge of cooking and life skills to further help Cedar’s patients succeed.
