Charis was born and originally from BC, but spent her childhood growing up in Central Asia. She returned to Canada to continue schooling and eventually moved to the island in 2019. Charis attended The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology where she completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with a focus in trauma therapy.
Charis’ own story brought her to this work in therapy, and her belief that each person holds deep wisdom and narrative worthy of being shared and held by others. As we are harmed in relationship, so too must healing come. Working at Cedars offers a space in which to join people in their most painful and lonely moments, and celebrate the seeking of identity, community, honesty, vulnerability, and holistic wellbeing.
When Charis is not working, she tends her jungle home of plants alongside of her partner and a very majestic orange tabby cat.
