Jeff grew up in the Cowichan valley on Vancouver Island and now lives in Nanaimo with his partner and two beautiful children. Jeff attended Vancouver Island University where he studied Psychology and First Nations Studies, receiving his diploma in Social Sciences as well as his SIVA certification (Supporting Individuals Through Valued Attachments).
Jeff’s lived experience makes him a compassionate, honest and heart centred leader. His experience working in Mental Health and Addiction has allowed him to build a comprehensive understanding of addiction treatment and the skills to confidently do his job. Jeff’s goals include continuing to learn and grow as a counsellor and as a person. He believes “we are never done learning and every experience in life affords us an opportunity to better ourselves and situation.”
When he’s not at Cedars, Jeff enjoys spending time with my two beautiful kids, partner and their three dogs. Where they can usually be found outside exploring the backcountry, hiking, fishing, hunting or camping. From Welding to Counselling, Jeff’s journey has been tough but amazing.
Jeff feels privileged to do with people here at Cedars: “This is the most rewarding thing I have ever been a part of and meeting individuals where they are at, supporting them through the process of recovery is a gift. Our team, from maintenance, Support staff and Counsellors put their heart into all that they do and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
