Lisa Shields, BA, MC
Director of Operations
As the Director of Operations, Lisa is responsible for ensuring quality, safety and efficiency at all operational levels of the organization. Lisa is excited about the possibilities of a center like Cedars because of witnessing the cascade effect of a committed, passionate compliment of staff. Lisa believes that the operations of Cedars lends well to individualized, well-coordinated care. Lisa works as a member of Cedars Leadership Team to ensure that each patient receives the best possible treatment, based on their unique needs. Lisa is a point of contact for all regulatory compliance and oversees the Accreditation Canada Qmentum Program.
Lisa holds both a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in both Criminology and Psychology as well as a post graduate Substance Use Certification. Lisa has completed her Master’s Degree from City University. Lisa completed her thesis on ‘Integrating Recovery Capital with Post Traumatic Growth in Promoting Addiction Recovery’. Lisa is interested in discourse analysis and shifting from deficit based understandings of addiction and trauma, moving towards responses – understanding the successes people achieve, actively recovering from addiction.
Lisa brings her previous experience to Cedars, as she worked in the youth serving system in Youth Justice and at the Representative for Children and Youth from 2004-2014 before joining Cedars. Lisa is engaged with the Metis Nation of BC and is a passionate recovery ally. In her off time, Lisa is a faculty member at City University. Lisa also loves hanging out with her family and her dogs.
