Sonja holds a Bachelor’s Degree in social work and is in the final stages of officially obtaining a Masters of Counseling Psychology. Her desire for a career in recovery started when she was just a child. Sonja was only 12 years old when she bravely gave her father an ultimatum; it was either her or the heroin. The anguish she experienced growing up with her father’s chemical dependency and the considerable impact it had on their family, drove her to break her silence around addiction. With her position, Sonja hopes her own experience assists families who have suffered through similar circumstances. Today, she is a well-trained mental health practitioner with vast experience in clinical operations. Sonja has spent the past 8 years employed in residential treatment, working closely with families.
